Reordering Drawings

Where the order is used

The order of drawings inside a category is not cosmetic. It sets:

• The order of the file tabs in Review mode, where you step through drawings and the Total tab.
• The order of rows in the Select Drawing panel you open from the breadcrumb or Change Drawing.
• The order of worksheets in the Excel export from Export Quantities (.xlsx), so the workbook reads in the same sequence as the project page.

Set the order to match how someone would read the job: ground floor before first floor, layouts before schedules. The order is saved with the project and shared with everyone who opens it.

Reordering by drag and drop

   On the project page, expand the category that holds the drawings.

   Press and hold on a drawing card (grid view) or on the name area of a row (list view). The drag starts after the pointer has moved a short distance, so a plain click still ticks the drawing.

   Drag the drawing to its new position. Its neighbours shift aside to show where it will land.

   Release. The new order is saved immediately; there is no Save button.

Drop the drawing on another drawing to insert it before that one, or on empty space within the category to send it to the end.

Dragging into another category

Dropping a drawing onto a different category moves it there rather than reordering it. It lands before the drawing you dropped it on, or at the end of that category if you dropped it on empty space. A drawing that belonged to several categories ends up in the target category only. See Organising with categories for the alternatives.

Reordering from the Select Drawing panel

When a drawing is open you do not have to go back to the project page. Click the drawing name in the breadcrumb, or choose Actions → Change Drawing , and the Select Drawing panel lists every category and its drawings. Rows there can be dragged into a new order in exactly the same way.

Reordering categories

Categories have their own order, changed with the drag grip at the left of each category header. Only the grip starts a category drag, so dragging a drawing never accidentally moves its category. See Organising with categories.

Common issues

The drag ticks the drawing instead of moving it

You released before the pointer had moved far enough. Press, move the pointer clearly, then release.

A drawing appears in two categories with different positions

A drawing shared between categories has an independent position in each. Reorder it in whichever category matters, or in both.
