What Dayworks are
A Daywork (DW) records work carried out on a time-and-materials basis — outside the main contract scope. Dayworks track the labour, materials, and subcontractor costs involved and can be applied to Applications and budgets.
Viewing Dayworks
Open a project and click Dayworks in the sidebar under Contract Management. The table shows all Dayworks with their number, name, status, and who created them.
Filter by Status or Created By.
Creating a Daywork

Click Create Daywork in the top-right corner.

Enter a Name for the Daywork.

Optionally enter a Client Reference and Description.

Optionally add Notes. Click the notes icon to select from predefined system notes for Dayworks.

Click Create. You are taken to the Daywork detail page.
Adding Daywork items
On the detail page, click Create Daywork Item to add items to the Daywork. Each item captures costs for materials, labour, and subcontractors, using the markup percentages configured on the project.
The Create Daywork Item button is hidden when the Daywork status is Approved. You cannot add items to an approved Daywork.
Status workflow
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Requested | Initial status — the Daywork has been raised |
Priced | Items have been priced |
Submitted | Sent to the client for review |
Approved | Accepted by the client — items and values are locked |
Voided | Withdrawn without effect |
Cancelled | Cancelled — no further action |
Change the status using the status dropdown in the header.
Applying to the project
Use the Apply To dropdown in the header to push the Daywork's values into other parts of the project:
- Project — applies to Applications, budgets, and the buying list
- Applications — makes the Daywork available for claiming
- Budgets — reflects the Daywork in budget totals
- Buying List — adds items to the procurement buying list
Other actions
From the Actions dropdown you can:
- Duplicate — create a copy of the Daywork with the same items
- Generate Report — produce a PDF report
