What "Update" does
The Update Project dialog edits the four metadata fields you set at creation — Name, Client, Project Type, and Description. It does not affect any of the drawings, markers, or settings inside the project.
You'd use it to:
- Rename a project (the project name flows through to the Excel export prefix).
- Add a client you forgot to fill in when you created the project.
- Tidy up a description before sharing the export with someone.
How to update
- 1
Open the project you want to update from the Projects dashboard.
- 2
Click Actions in the top-right of the project view.
- 3
Choose Update .
- 4
Edit any of the four fields in the Update Project dialog. Existing values are pre-filled — leave anything you don't want to change.
- 5
Click Update. The button changes to Updating… while it saves.
- 6
On success you'll see a toast — "Project Updated — [name] has been updated successfully." — and the changes appear immediately in the breadcrumb and dashboard.
What gets affected when you rename
Renaming a project updates:
- The breadcrumb at the top of the editor.
- The label on the Projects dashboard.
- The Project header value in the Excel export.
- The prefix of any new Excel export filename you generate from now on.
Excel files you've already exported keep their old name — only future exports use the new name.
