When you'd want to
You filed a drawing into the wrong service when uploading, or you split your project's structure after the fact — say splitting Electrical into Lighting and Small Power. Moving files between services is a drag-and-drop, no dialogs, no warnings.
How to move a file
- 1
Expand both the source service (containing the file) and the target service (where you want it to land).
- 2
Click and hold on the file card.
- 3
Drag it onto the target service's area — anywhere inside the service, not just onto a specific spot. The target service highlights to confirm it's ready to receive the drop.
- 4
Release. The file detaches from the source service and appears at the bottom of the target service.
The change is saved automatically.
What gets carried across
Everything attached to the file moves with it:
- All marker groups and their markers.
- All zones and AOIs.
- The drawing's scale and calibration.
- All database / Contractor's Choice / Assembly links.
- The file's rotation.
Only the file's service changes — nothing inside it is touched.
What changes in the Excel export
The Service column in the project marker summary and the Totals sheet of the Excel export updates to the new service name. The file's own worksheet in the export stays the same — the worksheet name is the filename, not the service name.
Order in the new service
Moved files always land at the bottom of the target service. If you need them somewhere else in the order, drag again within the new service. See Reordering files.
