What Subcontractor Orders are
A Subcontractor Order is a formal instruction to a subcontractor to carry out work on your project. It defines the scope, rates, and values of the subcontracted work.
Viewing Subcontractor Orders
Open a project and expand the Subcontractors section in the sidebar, then click Orders. The table shows all Subcontractor Orders with their number, subcontractor name, status, CIS status, and billing type.
Filter by Status, Subcontractor, CIS (Yes/No), or Billing Type.
Creating a Subcontractor Order

Click Create Subcontractor Order in the top-right corner.

Fill in the order details — subcontractor, description, rates, and terms.

Click Create. You are taken to the order detail page.
Adding items
On the detail page, click Add Order Item to add line items with descriptions, quantities, and rates.
You cannot add items when the order status is Firmed or Cancelled.
Status workflow
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
Open | Order created but not yet issued |
Placed | Order sent to the subcontractor |
Firmed | Order confirmed — items are locked |
Cancelled | Order cancelled |
Other actions
From the Actions dropdown you can access order limits, generate reports, and manage the order.
